Day 5: Mile 70 to 89 (19 miles)
It was a warm night last night! Hiked with Jpeg to Scissors Crossing where we met a trail angel who was going to Kickoff at Lake Morena. Jpeg actually had been wanting to go to that and the trail angel (Joe) was willing to give him a ride there and bring him back on Friday. I continued into the heat where I watched couple fighter jets roar through the valley chasing each other on some sort of training mission.I passed a couple people who have been on the trail since last Tuesday. It made me question myself if I am pushing myself to hard early on since I’m passing people who started four days before I did and I’m only on day 5. Either way I think I will keep the same pace going.
During lunch, I did the smart thing and put my hand back to stretch without looking and got a cactus to the hand! Note to self: Don’t do that again!
Found an amazing campsite near the edge of a cliff overlooking the valley. I decided to stop early so I can spend couple daylight hours relaxing and enjoying the view! Turned out to be a very windy night exposed up there, but was worth it! (46 miles since my last water fill up, I did carry 8 liters of water)
Day 6: Mile 89 – 109 (20 miles)
Did my first 20 mile day hike. Feeling good overall and excited to how my body has responded so far. Met Aquaman from Colorado and he got his name from carrying to much water on any kind of hike. He got very dehydrated and ran out of water eight miles to nearest road long time ago and he will never make that mistake again and carries a lot now. Turnip Jelly, Hendricks and Rain Gear are two others I met along the way today. Cool weather and incoming storm has helped us move faster and make the 20 miles today.
We hit 100 miles today!!
Rain Gear ran into a rattlesnake 1/2 mile behind me, so I must of just missed it! We stopped at Eagle Rock for a couple pics and then made our way 1/2 mile short of Warner Springs. Everything is already closed so we will hike into town in the morning and hopefully stay dry, but the clouds above make us think otherwise.

Thanks for the reminder!
